Experimental investigation on flexural behaviour of vertically-curved circular-hollow steel sections strengthened with externally bonded carbon fibre reinforced polymer

The behaviour of Carbon Fibre Reinforced Polymer (CFRP) strengthened vertically curved beams Steel Circular Hollow Sections (SCHS) was studied. Sixteen numbers with 1200 mm span having four radii curvatures; 0 mm, 2000 4000 and 6000 were tested under three-point bending tests. A range CFRP lengths up to 1000 selected. maximum performance noted when the ratio between length total is 0.625. Four types failure modes observed in beams. theoretical model also developed validated predict load–deflection tubular elastic region using Maxwell-Mohr integral method.
